WALKING WITH GOD

“Enoch walked with (pleased) God, and he was not, for God took him.” – Gen 5:24

The inheritance of every believer and child of God is to walk with God. We have the invitation to walk with God through all of life, never having to be alone or without help. Although walking with God is the privilege of a lifetime, it doesn’t come easy or cheap. All who desire to walk with God will pass through valleys, trek over mountains, journey on uneven roads and encounter all kinds of obstacles and opposition. Yet they will also lay down in green pastures, be led to still waters, walk on paths of righteousness and dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Surely walking with God is an adventure that will span one’s entire life and endure into eternity.

As Marielle and I are preparing to move to Portugal, we are experiencing the different aspects of walking with God. We moved out of our house, gave away or sold most of our possessions, quit our jobs and are currently waiting and praying for the door to Portugal to be flung wide open. Moving to Portugal comes at the cost of leaving behind so much (family, friends, church, pets, etc.), with no guarantee that we will ever see them again. It is however also ripe with the opportunity of Walking with (pleasing) God by laying down our lives to pursue His Kingdom and Will.

“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” – Phil 3:8

“But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” – Phil 3:13

While we are waiting on God to open the door to Portugal, we have the privilege of being part of Revolution Church. As a church we are pursuing the priesthood of all believers that will advance the Kingdom of God violently through the authority of Jesus Christ and the Keys of the Kingdom. One of the strategies that the Lord has given us to achieve this goal is to have Worship/Prayer meetings, afterwards sending out the Church into the harvest. When we go out, we make ourselves dependent on the leading of the Holy Spirit, trusting in the Divine Leadership of the Father. The fruits of this are twofold. First, the people we encounter while going out, are the recipients of the Gospel of the Kingdom and the Power of God. Secondly, as we go out, we are discipled into the lifestyle of the Kingdom. A lifestyle that is so beautifully portrayed in the Book of Acts. We are trusting the Lord that as we walk with Him that we will continue to Glorify His name, advance His Kingdom and do His will.

“Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For, yet a little while and the coming one will come and will not delay: but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul (God’s) has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.” Heb 10: 35-39

“And without faith it is impossible to please him (God) for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” Heb 11:6

My prayer for all of us is that we will have the ability to walk with (please) God all our lives. That we will Glorify His name, Advance His Kingdom and Do His will. That the Holy Spirit will empower us with all endurance and that we will keep the faith until the end. That we will see the fullness of the promises of God and that we will REIGN WITH CHRIST in this world and the one to come.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” 2 Cor 13:14
